WHAT ARE RELINES & REBASES?

If you currently own or plan to own full dentures you'll likely need to keep them maintained with a reline every 2 years. Relines are the best way to ensure your dentures fit with lasting comfort and prevent you from having to obtain a whole new set. There are three types of relines listed above: standard (hard) relines, softy relines, and temporary relines.

Hard Relines are when your denturist takes a new impression of your mouth for measurements that will later be used to adjust the current shape of the denture leading to restored maximum comfort.

Softy Relines are great if you have sensitive gums that can't handle the hard surface of the acrylic-based standard set of dentures. Most doctors prefer their patients to have softy dentures because they last longer and are much more comfortable. Your denturist will follow the same process as hard relining but will insert a soft pliable layer to your dentures that rest on your gums during use.

Temporary Relines are all about immediately helping you reduce the inflammation, pain, or swelling of your gums you may be experiencing due to your dentures fitting incorrectly. Your denturist will add a medical material to your dentures to aid in restoring comfort to your gums before proceeding to perform either a hard or softy reline at a later date for a more long term solution.

Denture Rebasing is when the "base" or platform of your dentures have worn out, but the teeth are still in great condition. Instead of replacing the entire set of dentures, we can help you save and return to full comfort by simply recreating the base denture and utilize the existing teeth form your previous set. We believe in doing more with less. For any other questions don't hesitate to contact us!
